CCDR Algarve visits micro and small companies in the municipality of Loulé

Visits took place to “follow up the resilience efforts developed by companies in response to post-pandemic challenges”

Some micro and small companies with investment projects in competitiveness and economic diversification were visited on the afternoon of this Thursday, February 10, by the president of the Committee for Coordination and Regional Development (CCDR) of the Algarve, José Apolinário, and by the vice-president Elsa Cordeiro, accompanied by the mayor of Loulé, Vítor Aleixo.

The visits took place in order to «follow up the resilience efforts made by companies in response to post-pandemic challenges», highlights CCDR Algarve.

According to CCDR Algarve, «being smaller investments, they represent an effort and investment in the qualification of micro and small companies with a number of workers in the dozens, contributing to improve the competitiveness of the local business fabric, in addition to allowing the creation and maintenance of vital jobs for the social cohesion of local communities'.

José Apolinário, also chairman of the Management Committee of the Algarve Operational Program, warned of “potentials interested in similar support for open notices, which aim at the digital, energy and environmental transition of companies, allowing to finance the acquisition of machinery and equipment, technological services /digital, quality systems and certification systems that modernize production processes and contribute to the socio-economic sustainability of companies».

One of the companies visited by CCDR Algarve was CARPIART, which “will acquire for the 1st time a modern, fully automatic 4-axis CNC machining machine, as well as two software licenses essential for the operation of the CNC and for offering an excellent service. Together, all these investments will allow the company to increase its product portfolio, add value to them, with greater responsiveness».

The investment will be of around 93 thousand euros, being co-participated with funds from the European Union in the amount of 37 thousand euros.

Another of the companies from Loulé, Joaquim Manuel de Sousa Lopes & Filhos, has the carob processing industry as its project. The company will make an investment of 209 euros, with 646,80 euros from European funds.

In 2021, within the scope of the PAPN, 42 applications from small and micro-enterprises were approved in the Algarve, totaling a total investment of 5,98 million euros and receiving support from European funds of 2,23 million euros, through the Regional Operational Program .

At the moment, with a global allocation of two million euros, two new notices are open under the PAPN for micro and small companies, namely, ALG-D7-2022-01 – Industry (Divisions 05 to 33 of the CAE) and ALG-D7-2022-02 – Green Economy.
