The Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex hosts, between the 1st and 15th of February, the UEFA Under-16 Football Development Tournament in the female and male categories.
The competition takes place in a triangular tournament format and brings together the teams of Portugal, Germany and England. It is organized by the Portuguese Football Federation, with the collaboration of the VRSA City Council, the Algarve Football Association and Algarve Football Tours.
Taking into account the quality of the football played, the competition will attract, to Vila Real de Santo António, dozens of scouts from the main European clubs, which could mean, for young players, the possibility that, in the near future, they will integrate the squads of the greats of football.
The women's tournament takes place on the 1st, 4th and 7th of February, while the men's takes place on the 9th, 12th and 15th of February.
All participating teams will train at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, between the 29th of January and the 15th of February, where, in addition to the games, there are daily training sessions.
During this period, all players, technical team and staff will be accommodated in the municipality's hotels, thus encouraging tourism and the local economy.
Entry to the games is free, but is subject to the presentation of a negative Covid-19 test (antigen or PCR) or a valid vaccination certificate. Doors open at 14pm, wearing a mask is mandatory throughout the event.
One more year, these teams chose the VRSA Sports Complex, a sign of recognition of the quality and projection of this equipment that has attracted evidence of media interest, dozens of stages of national and international teams and is accredited as a High Performance Center.
