PSD denounces «continuous decline» of services provided at the Civil Registry of Olhão

At stake is "the continuous absence of employees, allegedly for reasons of sick leave"

The PSD Olhão denounced this Thursday, January 13, the “continuous decline” of the services provided by the IRN – Institute of Registries and Notaries, in the municipality of Olhão.

In a statement, the Social Democrats reveal that they have noticed at the site “the continuous absence of employees, allegedly for reasons of sick leave, according to information from the Public Security Police agent assigned to control the entry of citizens at the door of this service”.

«Open doors, and without the possibility of booking online, the Olhão IRN is operating on a minimum service basis, with only one employee. Due to the limitation of human resources, at the moment, it is only possible to activate the signature and digital mobile key and collect citizen cards already issued, with the services for issuing any documents being suspended».

Citizens seeking to issue cards or passports «are being forwarded» to other municipalities, «as we witnessed on the spot», explains PSD Olhão.

«We believe that this situation has already exceeded the limit of reason, jeopardizing the functioning of a fundamental public service for the people of Olhão and, through various testimonies, we confirmed that this difficulty has been going on for too long, without the PS municipal executive having taken action. publicly pronounced on the matter'.

The social democrats consider that «it is unacceptable that the people of Olhão have to travel to other municipalities to see matters as fundamental as the simple issue of a document resolved».

PSD Olhão concludes by reiterating that “it is shameful that the municipal executive treats its citizens in this way, without revealing any effort, nor making the necessary public steps with the Ministry of Justice, for the urgent regularization of the IRN Services in Olhão”.
