Portimonense draws and goes four games without a win in the I Liga

Duel between two teams that are fighting for European places

Portimonense drew 1-1 with Vitória de Guimarães, on the 18th round of the I Football League, played this Monday, January 17th. The Algarve were losing, but managed to reach equality near the end.

After the disappointing defeat in the Portuguese Cup, Paulo Sérgio's team returned to play at home for the championship, in an interesting duel for the European places.

Regarding the last game for the League, against Marítimo, Willyan and Aponza entered the starting 11, replacing Fabrício and Carlinhos. On the Vitória side, Portuguese international Quaresma was one of the casualties.

The first big chance came in the 16th minute. Samuel, Portimonense's goalkeeper, twice saved Lameiras' shots after a Tiago Silva corner.

The Algarve responded for Nakajima's feet. The Japanese shot on goal, forcing Bruno Varela to apply himself (18′).

Until the opening goal appeared, in a move in which Lucas, with a backward header, involuntarily assisted Nelson Luz. The Guimarães player leaned towards the goal (34′).

In the second half, Portimonense fought for the tie and even managed to score, near the end, giving justice to the result. Anderson dominated a ball on the edge of the area and hit it hard. The ball only stopped at the back of Bruno Varela's nets (85′).

The last minutes promised and Vitória had a great chance in the 90′, in a shot by Nelson Luz that hit the bar.

The result was unchanged and Portimonense now has 25 points, occupying 7th place. This is the fourth consecutive game without a win, for the Algarve, in the I Liga.
