Candidates place Health as the first cause of their mandate in the Assembly of the Republic

Candidates of the Socialist Party (PS) by the circle of Faro This Monday, January 3, the Legislative Elections visited various health facilities in the Barlavento Algarve.

According to the PS Algarve, "Health is assumed to be the first priority of the seven commitments they assume with the region for the next legislature", thus initiating a set of initiatives that aim to present throughout the week the promises of the socialists in this area .

The first visit took place at the Silves Health Centre, where requalification works are currently taking place and where an investment of around one million euros is planned under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

This investment has the objective of "strengthening the response capacity of that health unit, including installing complementary means of diagnosis and thus allowing users to be prevented from immediately traveling to hospitals in the region".

Primary health care is an area that PS candidates take on as a priority and in which they say they will have, in the next six years, "the opportunity to strengthen and modernize our network of local health care." In all, during this period, «about 40 million euros should be invested in the Algarve in works and equipment for the health centres».

Jamila Madeira, head of the PS list for the Algarve, considers that investing in quality healthcare responses in areas where people live and close to people is «the best way to defend the NHS and safeguard the capacity of the responses of hospitals in the region, including the future Central University Hospital of the Algarve».

The PS candidates also visited the Lagoa Vaccination Center, “an example of a good partnership between the Municipal Councils and the Ministry of Health”.

The day ended with a working meeting at the Portimão center of the Hospital and University Center of the Algarve (CHUA), with the administration having announced “the reinforcement of Pediatrics and Obstetrics in Portimão with the hiring of four specialists (three pediatricians and one obstetrician).
