Portimonense drew 1-1 with Arouca in a match of the 15th round of the I League of football, played this Saturday, December 18, in Portimão. The Algarve failed, thus, the assault to European places.

This was the first time that Portimonense and Arouca met at the top level of Portuguese football. Armando Evangelista's team had a great chance to score in the 19th minute.

Campi headed Samuel's goal post, but Portimonense didn't let it go.

At 27′, Aponza shot to the iron, also after a corner.

The opening goal came in the second half and went to Arouca. Pité, international player for Portugal's youth team, made a first shot, Samuel saved, but on the rebound André Silva did not miss.

The Algarve managed to reach a draw at 71′. Fabrício shot at the post, but the ball was left to Luquinhas, who fired to count.

Until the end, both teams had chances to score the winning goal, but the scoreboard did not move again.

With this draw, Portimonense could not overtake Estoril in 6th place, which does not affect the great season that the Algarve is having.

Paulo Sérgio's team is still in 6th place, with 24 points won. On the next journey, there is a Sporting-Portimonense (day 29).
