Jamila Madeira returns to the top of the Algarve's list of the PS to the Legislatures

There are two independents among the candidates.

The current socialist deputy Jamila Madeira, former Assistant Secretary of State and Health, returns to head the list of the PS in the Algarve to the Legislative Elections, which will be disputed on the 30th of January next. The list includes some new names from 2019.

As was the case three years ago, Jamila Madeira, who is the PS's International Secretary, is once again the first candidate in the Algarve on a proposal by António Costa, secretary general of the Socialists.

The list was approved, with 90,24% of the votes, by the Socialists' Regional Political Commission, which took place last night, and should be ratified by the National Political Commission, next Monday. Unlike what happened with the PSD, where the final list of candidates approved at the national level was very different from the one suggested at regional level, among socialists no changes are expected at the national meeting.

After Jamila, followed by Jorge Botelho (current Secretary of State for Decentralization and Local Administration, former president of the Chamber of Tavira, who thus rises one position on the list) and Luís Graça (current deputy, who was 5th in 2019 and also goes up one position).

In 4th place, there is a woman, who debuts in an eligible place on the list of candidates for PS deputies: Isabel Guerreiro, lawyer, president of the Municipal Assembly of Portimão and former councilor of the local council.

In 5th place, still theoretically eligible, comes Francisco Oliveira (lawyer and current deputy), who was 7th on the list and occupied the functions in Parliament in the legislature that has now ended due to the departure, for other functions, of José Apolinário and Jorge Botelho.

The PS list is completed, in this order, by Tatiana Gouveia (Socialist Women), Sofia Belchior, Abel Matinhos, Célia Paz, Pedro Ornelas, Luís Guilhermino, Paula Couto, Luís Veríssimo and António Cabrita (president of AM de Olhão).

From the list of socialist candidates, and comparing with the candidacy in the Legislatives of 2019, two women (Joaquina Matos and Ana Passos) and one man (José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve) are left out this time.
