“Give change to those who need it” at participating pharmacies in the Algarve until December 21

In the Algarve, there is a network of 53 pharmacies integrated in this program

The solidarity fund-raising campaign “Give Change to Who Needs Change”, promoted by Associação Dignitude, starts today at participating pharmacies in the district of Faro.

The initiative, which ends on December 21, invites the Portuguese to donate change for purchases made in pharmacies to the Solidarity Fund Oh ok:. The amount raised by the action will be fully applied in the purchase of prescription drugs to needy people covered by the Program Oh ok:.

"The Municipality of Loulé joined Dignitude for the operationalization of the abem Program: Solidary Medicine Network, with the objective of guaranteeing access to medicine by citizens in a situation of social vulnerability, who make it impossible for them to acquire reimbursed medicines prescribed by a doctor's prescription, thus benefiting from 100% co-payment in the purchase of reimbursed medicines by the National Health Service and subject to a medical prescription. I emphasize the importance of the abem programme: in improving the quality of life and well-being of our fellow citizens”, said Vitor Aleixo, president of the Loulé City Council.

“The pharmacies in the district of Faro Adherents to the Give Change to Who Needs campaign rely on the generosity of everyone to guarantee the most disadvantaged access to medicines essential to their lives. Together, we demonstrate the strength of union and the magic of Christmas”, explained Maria Paula Silva, pharmacist.

Currently, the abem network: has eight reference entities in the district of Faro:

In the district, there is also a network of 53 pharmacies Oh ok: where 1.331 beneficiaries can access, free of charge, the drugs prescribed by their doctors.
