“A Rua da Europa” aims to make the EU known to young people

With a duration of about 5 minutes, it will be broadcast every Monday at 8:45 and 18:45.

Called “A Rua da Europa”, it is the most recent program by Rádio Universitária do Algarve (RUA) FM and wants to help young people to broaden their horizons about the European Union.

The program is the result of a partnership between the Documentation Center of the University of Algarve, Europe Direct Algarve and RUA FM.

«This is a radio program and the objective is to transmit useful information about the European Union [EU] and to make known countless projects, carried out by various entities, public and private, working in the Algarve throughout Europe, and for the benefit of the Algarve community and also for cross-border cooperation», explains the University of Algarve (UAlg).

The program is weekly, has several items, including the speak corner – a space where, through the different languages, a set of typical expressions that are useful for communication on a daily basis, in an increasingly intercultural society, are made known.

In the weekly highlight, «we want to make known who, in the Algarve and in cross-border cooperation, develops projects with and for young people», says UAlg.

The new program also has a space for “Briefs” with useful information about initiatives or programs of the European Union.

The choice of “RUA FM” to broadcast this program is due to the fact that it is a university radio that is listened to by many young people, of different nationalities and with very different interests.

The program is also produced together with several young people who are carrying out Erasmus projects in the Algarve (students or volunteers) and who come from different parts of the EU. With a duration of about 5 minutes, it will be broadcast every Monday at 8:45 and 18:45.
