“Viver do What?”, a documentary that tells stories of women's work in Vila do Bispo

Film is based on the anthropological research of Vera Abreu and concept and production by Patrícia Leal

«It was from sunrise to sunset, at that time there were no hours», recalls Joaquina do Forno. “Live on what? – Oral Memories of a Life of Work” is the name of a documentary that will premiere on December 1st, at 15 pm, at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Vila do Bispo) and which tells stories of a life of work for women .

This is a film based on the anthropological research of Vera Abreu and the concept and production of Patrícia Leal.

The duo responsible for creation and production intends to “safeguard” memories of dominant ways of life from the recent past, highlighting the active participation of women in work related to the countryside and the sea and their role in the main economic activities in the municipality of Vila do Bishop.

"The documentary will contribute to answering a challenge raised on issues of pressing importance, insofar as it deals with people and experiences that, when they disappear, take with them a whole collection of memories and intangible heritage that it is important to fix", says the Vicentina Association that supported the making the film.

This is an initiative integrated into Associação Vicentina's programming, through an application to the DiVaM 2021 program – Promotion and Enhancement of Monuments in the Algarve, in the thematic context of “Heritage, Community and Inclusion”, which also has the support of Terras do Infante Association of Municipalities.

Participation is free, but registration is mandatory until the 26th of November through this link.
