“Operação Montanha Verde” is back and taking place this next weekend. This citizenship movement, which tries to encourage and reinforce good environmental practices, will take place on the mornings of the 21st (Sunday) and 22nd (Monday) of November, at the University of Algarve's Gambelas Campus, in Faro, between 9:00 and 11:30.

And as usual, the presence of volunteers of all ages is completely guaranteed. The grounds on the Campus de Gambelas are already prepared, so each volunteer will not be asked, in addition to suitable clothing and footwear, for more than some time and light physical effort.

«This return of “Operação Montanha Verde”, after a forced break of one year, will once again show that there are initiatives of civic involvement, in favor of collective protection of the region's natural values, which continue to make sense – due to their urgency to contribute to alleviate the terrible losses that Portugal has been suffering (due to recurrent fires, and not only)», stresses the organisation, in charge of Zoomarine.

That entity also considers “important to reinforce the message of hope and cooperative spirit of the Portuguese, precisely following the important conclusions of the most recent United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26).

This year, Zoomarine has joined forces with the University of Algarve (which was already a partner through its Volunteer Group, V+) and the Municipality of Faro.

“Operação Montanha Verde” will once again count on the cooperation of the Algarve Tourism Region and ALGAR SA (which offers the NutriVerde compound).
