“Além da Matéria”, an exhibition of paintings by Joaquim Marques, will be inaugurated on November 12th, at 18 pm, at the Espírito Santo Convent Art Gallery, in Loulé, and will be open until January 00th.
This exhibition brings together watercolor and acrylic works on medium and large format paper, which revolve around the theme of materiality/immateriality. “According to quantum science and some eastern religions, all matter is energy. All energy flows», says the Loulé municipality.
«Evoking an oneiric imagery that, at times, alludes to an oriental aesthetic», the works of Joaquim Marques invite contemplation.
The artist «likes to work on large-format papers lying on the floor, using improbable devices such as mops and dusters to add water and paint. When walking on the still damp paper, you can observe and feel the image that appears under your feet. Time and space are diluted in the water that floods the paper», explains the municipality.
The exhibition is free to enter and can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 17:30 pm, and on Saturday, from 9:30 am to 16:00 pm.
