Guilherme Gonçalves exhibits “Mea Culpa” at the Praça do Mar Gallery in Quarteira

Opening of the exhibition will take place on the 20th of November

The exhibition “Mea Culpa”, an exhibition in which the artist Guilherme Gonçalves will exhibit his work in his native Quarteira, will open this Saturday, November 20th, at 17 pm, and will be on display until January 00nd, at the Gallery of Art of Praça do Mar.

“Mea Culpa”, in Portuguese “Minha Culpa”, is an expression with Latin origin that means “the act of confessing guilt, of assuming a mistake or of taking responsibility for failures”. With this body of work, the artist «confess his guilt for the way he observes and thinks about the world around him», says the Loulé municipality.

Guilherme Gonçalves' exhibition «brings to real life the texture of the raw nude of his thoughts and reflections».

His works «breathe a little of the street, have the thrill of his life and experience instilled, many of the moments that happen in his social and personal environment where the artist loves to be inspired», explains the municipality of Loulé.

Guilherme is a storyteller and, having said that, «he comes to transform people's faces into characters, where he gives them a new concept, a new life and a new story».

“Mea Culpa” is “the sharing of guilt between the artist and the spectator without any regrets, a kind of “Sorry Not Sorry” in fact”.

«Forgive the artist for thinking this way, but this is how he thinks and understands the universe. In fact, he doesn't even want to know».

Born in 1993, in Quarteira, Guilherme Gonçalves holds a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Algarve.
