The 1st edition of the “Autumn Conferences”, at Casa Álvaro de Campos, the tasting of a DocePessoa rice, or the “Qualquer Música” initiative, in the auditorium of the Academy of Music in Tavira, are some of the proposals for the beginning of November of celebrations of the “Feast of the Years of Álvaro de Campos”, with space also for exhibitions among the initiatives that will take place until the 30th in the city of Tavira.
The auditorium of the Municipal Library of Tavira will host this Saturday, November 6th, at 16 pm, the first edition of the “Autumn Conferences” of Casa Álvaro de Campos, with the presence of Ricardo Belo de Morais who will speak about “Fernando and Ophelia… and Álvaro”.
During the two phases of the relationship between Fernando Pessoa and Ofélia Queiroz, the heteronym Álvaro de Campos «had several interferences in the couple's love relationship, especially in the letters exchanged between them. When the relationship finally ended, it was also from Álvaro de Campos that Fernando Pessoa “rescued”, calling the engineer from Tavira to write the poem “All love letters are ridiculous”», says the organization.
In this conference, «we will get to know better the competitions of this unusual trio, which Ofelia always faced with complacency, but in which she did not cease to have an active participation, unequivocally entering the heteronymic game».
Journalist, writer, literary researcher, playwright, translator and communication consultant, Ricardo Belo de Morais has been a member of the Casa Fernando Pessoa team since 2012.
During this day's initiative, participants will be offered a DocePessoa rice, a special dessert, distributed by the association Partilha Alternativa and the Irene Rolo Foundation, which will have the image of Fernando Pessoa drawn in cinnamon.
The following day, November 7, at 18:30 pm, the auditorium of the Academy of Music in Tavira will receive the initiative with Josué Nunes, Nancy Gabor, Susana Nunes and Samuel Cristobal.
«We invited an American actress, Nancy Gabor, to interpret the poem To a Stranger by Whitman, imagining that this could have been a poem with which Walt would respond, both Pessoa and Lorca, since in this poetic universe, time and presence physics doesn't carry much weight», explains the organization.
To the sound of the guitar by Josué Nunes, «which creates a musical backdrop interpreting composers from the three countries», Susana Nunes as Pessoa and Samuel Cristobal as Lorca, will interpret «excerpts from the two poems that do not claim to be logical, but of sound like a poem, although in Portuguese and Spanish».
In addition to this initiative, several exhibitions will also be on display until the 30th of November, some in online mode, others in physical spaces in the city of Tavira.
In a tribute to health workers, it will be available on the page of A|NAFA's Facebook the collective photography exhibition “The Poetic Choices of Professionals at the Tavira Health Center”.
At Casa Álvaro de Campos, Professor Reinaldo Barros exhibits “Ensinar Pessoa”, a solo exhibition that can be visited from Tuesday to Thursday, from 10:00 am to 19:00 pm, and on Saturdays, from 16:00 pm to 22:00 pm.
Also in this place, and with the same visiting hours, the exhibition “Two Margens visits Álvaro de Campos” can be seen, with works by the Portuguese-Spanish collective Luz de Mujer . Art projects.
At Artesis Galeria, the exhibition “Fernando Pessoa and Love” can be visited on Thursdays and Fridays, from 16:00 pm to 19:00 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm.
Also at Casa Fotografia Andrade, and at a cost of 5 euros per adult, the work of photographers from the Andrade family is on display, showing “Notes on Tavira dos Tempos by Álvaro de Campos”. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm, and on Saturday, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm.
