The Earth also “shaked” at the Port of Sines, with a simulated evacuation of two buildings

The objective was to test the effectiveness of the implemented Self-Protection Measures, in the emergency area

Two simulacra at the same time, in the headquarters building of the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve (APS) and in the logistical support building of ZAL Sines, took place on Friday, in the Port of Sines.

This was the way chosen by the APS to participate in the exercise "A Terra Treme", a national initiative promoted by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, carried out with the aim of raising awareness of the seismic risk and the importance of adopting behaviors of self-protection in the event of an earthquake.

The simulations were intended to «test the effectiveness of the implemented Self-protection Measures, in the emergency area», in two of the PHC buildings.

After the activation of the siren, which lasted about 30 seconds, the occupants of the buildings «complied with zeal and rigor the expected operational procedure, while the APS Intervention Brigade promoted the emergency response procedures provided for in the Emergency Plan of the Port of Sines».

APS stresses, in a press release, that "it attaches great importance to security issues, especially with regard to the protection of people, and this type of simulation helps to train and strengthen the responsiveness of the services of the Port Authority in any event real situations'.
