There is no lack of Checul, Rosa Branca, Cavalo Preto, Calçadão or Vasco da Gama, emblematic places in Quarteira that give their names to songs of an al.“À Moda Quarteiense” bum. The album, which brings together artists from the city, such as Dino D'Santiago, Sacik Brow or Perigo Público, is released this Friday, October 29th, on digital platforms, and is, above all, «a work that reflects the intensive search for the sound of the city».
This album has 16 tracks and brings together artists who have in common being from or with strong connections to the city of Quarteira. In the cases of Virgul and Yuri da Cunha, identification with the album happened from the first moment, with Dino D'Santiago showing them the theme and both making a point of giving voice and the Angolan sound that their producers were looking for.
“À Moda Quarteiense” is the latest initiative of Associação Beyond, founder of the movement “Sou Quarteira”, created by Naomi Guerreiro, Inês Oliveira, Dino D'Santiago and Miguel Jacinto: all with strong connections to the city.
«This project is much more than a record, it is above all a work that reflects the intensive search for the city's sound, which in addition to honoring local talent, also aims to provide new stages, infrastructure and tools for the future generations can give continuity to their dreams», explains Naomi Guerreiro, from Associação Beyond, founder of “Sou Quarteira”.
This is a movement with a strong artistic and social bent, wanting, through culture, to help the city grow.
The Sou Quarteira Festival, the exhibition and book “Heróis”, the documentary #Sou365Dias, and the Mural "In Quarteirense Fashion" that gives the name to the disc, are examples of that.
To celebrate the edition of the album, on October 31st, at 18 pm, at Parque Gago Coutinho, in Quarteira, an acoustic concert will be offered, which will bring together the participants of the record, in what is the first public exhibition of this work. Tickets will be offered by the Municipality of Loulé and can be collected from this Tuesday, 00th October, at the Centro Autárquico de Quarteira and Cineteatro Louletano.
This first live moment of the disc's presentation is “what can be considered an open rehearsal”.
“It will be a unique experience and totally different from the record. The songs that compose it will be in their rawest format, there will be no machines, it will all be organic. It will be a celebration trip from us to us. With the very clear message that we are here 'stripped' of prejudices to share our pride in song form, a manifesto», lets foresee Sacik Brow.
