International Physical Theater Festival brings together companies and artists from 7 countries in Faro

Initiative will go through several sites in Faro

Dance-theater, mime, magic and circus, with absolute premieres in Portugal. The first edition of MOMI – International Physical Theater Festival takes place from November 26th to 28th, in Faro.

Companies and artists from Spain, Argentina, Costa Rica, France, Czech Republic, Japan and Portugal head to Faro to present physical theater, pantomime, mime, dance-theater, magic and circus shows.

The organization highlights the premiere in our country of the shows 'Solitudes' by Kulunka Teatro (Spain), 'Le Voisin' by Benoît Turjman (France), 'El alquimista del sonido' by Fausto Ansaldi (Argentina) and 'Balada para una noche de luna llena' by Plató Physical Theater Bcn (Spain and Costa Rica).

In addition to the shows, which will take place in several rooms in the city of Faro, with Teatros Lethes e das Figuras or the Gimnásio, workshops are scheduled, given by trainers with extensive experience in Physical Theater disciplines, as well as an artistic residency, which brings together Tania Garrido (Spain) and Yuko Kominami (Japan), which will present an original creation during the days of the Festival.

«The public will have the opportunity to appreciate the work of renowned companies and artists, nationally and internationally, placing Faro and Portugal on the map of major theatrical events», says the organization.

Tickets can be purchased here, with the possibility of purchasing tickets for all shows or just tickets for some shows.

During the festival, there will be meetings between artists and the public, in the form of conferences, which will allow for the strengthening of contact between all those involved in the festival.

The first edition of MOMI – International Physical Theater Festival – Algarve, organized by Coletivo JAT – Janela Aberta Teatro, has the support of the Portuguese Republic – Culture / General Directorate of Arts, Municipality of Faro, Iberescena, Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, Acción Cultural Española and Algarve Tourism Region.

As partners this initiative has Teatro das Figuras - TMF, Teatro Lethes, Gimnásio Clube de Faro, IPDJ – Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, Casa das Virtudes, Layer – Choreographic Centre, Super Flash Studio, Acesso Cultura and UALG – University of Algarve.
