CHUA raises awareness of the importance of palliative care

World Palliative Care Day was marked on 9 October

Two actions to raise awareness of the importance of palliative care will take place this Sunday, 24 October, at the Municipal Market of Faro (10:00) and at Forum Algarve (15:00). 

The initiative is organized by the Intra-Hospital Palliative Care Support team of the Palliative Care service of the Unit of Faro and the Psychosocial Support Team of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA).

According to the organization, this event aims to promote health literacy, in the context of palliative care, with the participation of professionals from the Intra-hospital support team in palliative care of the Hospital Unit of Faro and EAPS-CHUA professionals”.

During the initiative, the team of professionals will provide clarification to the population, demystifying some associated myths, contributing to the clarification of the scope and principles of Palliative Care, reinforcing the message with the distribution of leaflets, dissemination of videos and sharing of experiences and ideas.

The World Palliative Care Day, which took place on 9 October, aimed to promote equity in access to Palliative Care.
