“Retomar Monchique” supports 67 companies in the municipality affected by the pandemic

Investment of the Monchique municipality is 250 thousand euros

The municipal program “Retomar Monchique” financially supported 67 companies in the municipality that, in some way, were affected by the pandemic, in an investment of around 250 euros, announced this Wednesday, 8 September, the Monchiquense municipality.

This municipal program is aimed at «combating the economic effects of this pandemic crisis, asserting itself as a local complement and reinforcement to national economic support measures, which, admittedly, have been manifestly insufficient», begins by saying the municipality of Monchique .

The competition, which took place between the 25th of June and the 16th of July, received 76 applications from the most diverse sectors of activity, the vast majority of which are linked to restaurants/hotels and local quality products.

Of the 76 applications, 67 complied with the provisions of the specific regulation and, for this reason, received a favorable opinion after technical analysis, totaling support in an amount close to 250 thousand euros. This support was approved by the Municipality of Monchique at its ordinary meeting on 17 August.

The support will be 16.697,65 euros for individual entrepreneurs without employees, XNUMX for entities with some size and an average number of between two and five workers, and XNUMX euros or more for companies with more than eight workers. The highest value awarded was XNUMX euros.

Applications that did not receive support granted did not meet one or more eligibility criteria, highlighting 'a reduction in turnover between 2020 and 2019 of less than 20%, activities not started in the relevant years (2019), and tax domicile outside the territory of the municipality of Monchique», explains the municipality.

For Rui André, mayor, "this public health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has triggered an unprecedented economic crisis on a world scale, putting the survival of many companies and jobs in crisis."

«The severity and magnitude of the impact of the pandemic crisis has become so accentuated that we have not yet been able to quantify the real impact on the daily lives of the Portuguese and the dimension of the economic crisis that the country is going through, especially in terms of activities. commerce, catering, accommodation and small services'.

This support was intended 'to compensate for the fall in revenue in the first half of 2021, with the support calculated for the payment of 50% of the rent, financial compensation for the jobs maintained and fixed expenses with electricity, gas , communications, HACCP, management/billing programs and electronic marketing platforms”, stresses the municipality.

The non-refundable financial support is based on the IAS (social support index) and is calculated based on the level of employment held by the beneficiary, the income loss ratio and also includes support for the acquisition of personal protective equipment.

For Rui André, «proximity work with companies and main economic agents in the municipality is fundamental, a relationship that is reinforced in this moment of pandemic and uncertainty about the future. At a time when many of the state support is coming to an end or even many of them have not even benefited many of these companies, the municipality could not fail to make its contribution in order to support this phase of resumption of many activities».

“The important thing is that no company is forced to close its doors, a situation that can lead to a decision with no return. It is therefore important to continue to identify any constraints or difficulties in the coming times of uncertainty and, if necessary, open a new period of candidacy», concludes the Monchiquense mayor.
