Signing of the declaration "Mayor for Good Government"

The candidates of the Lagoa Primeira Movement, led by former mayor Francisco Martins, signed the declaration of commitment “Mayor for Good Government” at the end of August, committing themselves to a set of 12 measures in the area of transparency in municipal management .

This initiative comes from the civic association "Transparency International", which advocates "greater transparency and ease of scrutiny of the executive activity of local governments, contributing to greater confidence and strengthening the democratic power of local institutions," he explains the independent movement.

The candidates from Lagoa Primeira to the six bodies of the local authorities in Lagos support this initiative and signed the proposed declaration of commitment because they believe that, «more than an ethical duty, transparency is a fundamental duty of those who administer public affairs».

This subscription “is a natural step that results from the permanent defense that this civic platform has made, at a local level, for greater transparency in the actions of mayors, public companies and other local institutions”, he concludes.

The Lagoa Primeira Movement is a «civic platform», created «to think about the development of the municipality's future».

As an independent, the movement "has added duties with regard to issues related to transparency," he adds.
