A Algarve Barmen Association and Albufeira Commercial Association from the 17th of September to the 4th of October, they promote the first edition of the Albufeira Cocktail Festival.
According to the organization, "the event will have the participation of hundreds of professional national and international bartenders, many of whom will be awarded at the level of national competition and European championships, and will also participate in the world championship". Bartender associations from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Huesca, Seville, Tuscany, among others, will be present.
The festival aims to “honor the activity carried out by professionals in the Hotel and Restaurant and Beverage industry, namely for the quality and originality of the offer, to the general public and also to encourage and promote the Hotel sector in the region's restaurant and beverage industry at a national level and International". The objective is to refocus «the brand image added to the best that is done in this area, continuing to be a national and international reference».
As part of the festival, the 1st Algarve Barmaids Contest will take place, "so that the experienced and knowledgeable young force in the area is visible, as women play a relevant and professional role in this category", adds the organization. This contest will take place on the 25th, at 16 pm, at Libertos Club.
Over the 17 days of the Festival, there will be an itinerant street show with about a dozen animators, with a circuit along Avenida Sá Carneiro and Baixa de Albufeira.
A specific APP was also created for the event, which, associated with a QR code with participating establishments, can make holders benefit from gifts and prizes. Customers will also be able to rate the best cocktails.
Those responsible for the Bartenders of the Algarve and the Albufeira Comercial associations point out that, «in a pandemic situation, the event aims to boost the end of the 2021 summer season». But the organization even intends that «the event becomes, in the future, an important festival in the municipality, in order to overcome seasonality, linking the end of September to the beginning of October».
The opening of the Albufeira Cocktail Festival is scheduled for 21 pm on the 00th of September, at Pau da Bandeira, with the presence of various entities.
