The digital magazine "Word – Reading and writing is resisting“, produced in the Algarve, which will have its official launch on the 28th of August, has, in its first issue, an unpublished poem by Nuno Júdice.

Despite its official launch, on the 28th, the magazine was presented on the 1st of August, «the birth date of Herman Melville, an important novelist in North American literature, short story writer, essayist and poet, immortalized with the masterpiece Moby Dick ».

The project was designed by Diana Almeida, an obstetrician, lover of books and writing, who once dedicated herself to a literary criticism blog, and Analita Alves dos Santos, author, literary activist, curator of the “Encontros Literários – Reading Club” reading club O Pleasure of Writing”, with more than 2500 members on Facebook. The design of the publication is by Isa Silva.

For the title, the mentors of the publication, in digital format, were inspired by Fernando Pessoa's “taste of words”; and for the motto “Reading and writing is resisting”, they were based on the words of Lídia Jorge, who stated that “literature is an absolutely indispensable act of resistance” and it is necessary to “publish, read and disseminate”.

Published every six months and distributed free of charge, “Word — To read and write is to resist”, works as a platform for the dissemination of new literary voices, but not only that.

“The aim is to enable learning from those who are at the forefront and give a voice to those who wish to lead the way in the Portuguese literary world”, explain the magazine's mentors.
