Rafael Reis wins the 1st stage of the Volta, there are two Tavira cyclists in the top 10 overall

In this stage, the Algarve's Amaro Antunes (W52-FC Porto), who won the Volta last year, ended up in 10th place

Cyclists Gustavo Veloso and Emanuel Duarte, both from the General-Tavira-Maria Nova Hotel Tuna, are in the first 10 of the general classification of the Volta a Portugal by bicycle, after the 1st stage played this Thursday, August 5th, won by Rafael Reis (Efapel). 

The tirade connected Torres Vedras, land of Joaquim Agostinho, to Setúbal, for a total of 175,8 kilometers.

Rafael Reis surprised the competition and won in his hometown, with a time of 4 hours, 12 minutes and 23 seconds. After winning the prologue yesterday, the Efapel cyclist is still the yellow jersey.

In this stage, the Algarve Amaro Antunes (W52-FC Porto), who won the Volta last year, ended up in 10th place.

No athlete from the General-Tavira-Maria Nova Hotel or Louletano Tuna, the Algarve teams in the competition, finished in the first places.

As for the general classification, Gustavo Veloso is in 5th place, 22 seconds behind Rafael Reis, and Emanuel Duarte from Porto in 10th position, with 24 seconds more than the yellow jersey.

This Friday, 6th of August, the Volta a Portugal has another stage: the 2nd that will link Ponte de Sôr to Castelo Branco (162,1 kilometers).
