Praia dos Pescadores will host the 15th Proof of the Sea in Albufeira, on the 21st of August, as part of the XIV National Open Water Circuit of the Portuguese Swimming Federation.
The event, which is already in its 6th edition organized by Futebol Clube de Ferreiras, has the support of the municipality of Albufeira, the Portuguese Swimming Federation, the Algarve Swimming Association and the Parish Council of Ferreiras.
In addition to the official competition, with exclusive participation to federated athletes, who score for the National Circuit, the event will also include the holding of the Open Disclosure Test (federated and non-federated athletes) and the Kids Promotion Test (Cadetes dos athletes Swimming Clubs).
Participation will be limited to 370 athletes, distributed over the three competitions: 40 participants in the Kids Competition, 80 in the Disclosure Competition and 250 in the Main Competition.
Enrollments are already underway, closing at 9:00 am on the 18th of August, and must be made through the website.
«Swimmers affiliated with the Portuguese Swimming Federation can participate in all competitions, in the Open Water discipline, for the present season, as well as swimmers affiliated with other international federations recognized by FINA», stresses the Albufeira municipality.
The Kids Test, which will be played over 200 meters, is scheduled to start at 10:00 am.
Then follows the Disclosure Test, circuit of 800 meters, starting half an hour later.
The main Sea Trial in Albufeira starts at 12:15 pm, in a single 2000 meter lap, which will place the best swimmers in the race for the National Circuit.
