Lídia Jorge and Afonso Cruz meet in Portimão's Azul Summer

Authors will share readings with each other and with the public

Writers Lídia Jorge and Afonso Cruz will meet, next Friday, August 13, at 18:30 pm, at Jardim 1º de Dezembro, in Portimão, for another session of the Verão Azul initiative, where each guest author presents the book from the other.

Lídia Jorge, with the book “Em Todos os Sentidos”, “will show her incursion in the chronicle of daily life with the usual sensitivity and ethics” and will be in conversation with Afonso Cruz, author of “O Vício dos Livros”, “who will bring with it the collection of historical accounts and literary curiosities, reflections and personal memories».

The authors will «share readings among themselves and with the public», explains the Portimão Chamber.

The municipality, through the Municipal Library, «aims to “color” the Portimonense summer with a little more “blue” through the books and the words of those who write them, giving encouragement to Portuguese writers who, in the context of the pandemic, cannot have contact direct with the readers».

The meetings are always scheduled for 18:30 pm and began with João de Melo (“Voices and Shadows Book”) and João Pinto Coelho (“A Time to Pretend”) and continued on July 23, with Sandro William Junqueira (“ The Bleeding Family") and Ondjaki ("The Book of Dismemberment").

Finally, on August 20, the protagonists will be Nuno Júdice (“Return to a Countryside Setting”), a book of poetry finished in the transition from the epidemic to the pandemic, in which the author reflects on the transformations of the times in which we live, and Luís Filipe Castro Mendes (“Back”), where the author returns like Ulysses to an Ithaca from which he looks at a world that has drifted.

In each of the four meetings of this cycle of literary conversations, there has been a mini book fair, dedicated exclusively to the authors present.
