European funds support the construction of six social facilities in the Algarve

Contribution will be around 4,4 million euros

Six social facilities of Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) in the Algarve, in the fields of disability, mental health and the elderly, will be built with the support of European funds from the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Programme.

Together, the projects represent an eligible investment of 7,3 million euros, which will be shared in around 4,4 million euros by European funds managed in the Algarve region, coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

In the field of mental health, applications were approved for the Moderate Support Residence and the Social Occupational and Home Support Unit, both from ACASO (Olhão), and for the residential structure for the elderly (ERPI) and Day Center, especially dedicated to patients in Alzheimer's and other dementias, from the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Castro Marim.

In the area of ​​disability, the construction of the Occupational Activities Center of the Casa do Povo of the Municipality of Olhão, located in Moncarapacho, will be supported by European Union Funds.

In the case of the elderly, the funds destined for the Algarve will be invested in the installation of an ERPI, Day Center and Home Support Service (SAD) of the Cegonha Branca Association (Castro Marim) and expansion of another ERPI promoted by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel.
