Covid-19: Algarve registers four more deaths and 245 new infections

Data have just been released by DGS

There is more four deaths and 245 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Friday, 6 August, which has just been released. 

Across the country, an additional 2.377 cases of Covid-19 were reported.

Lisbon and Vale do Tejo is the region with the highest number of new cases, according to today's report, with 1.004 infections by the new coronavirus.

It is followed by the North (+659), the Center (+267), the Algarve (+245), the Alentejo (+129), the Azores (+42) and Madeira (+31).

The DGS also reports 18 more deaths to mourn nationally.

Deaths were mostly registered in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (12), but also in the Algarve (4), the North (1) and the Center 1).

As for the numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, there were 982.364 cases and 17.440 deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal.

The number of hospital admissions continues to decline (-32) and there are now a total of 866 people in need of hospital medical care due to the new coronavirus. In intensive care, there are also two fewer patients (194 in total).

However, there were 2.911 more people who recovered from the disease, with active cases decreasing (-552) to 44.646.

The risk matrix was updated today: the incidence rate continues to fall, both nationally, where it stands at 362 cases per 7 thousand inhabitants, and in Mainland Portugal (100 cases per 369,2 thousand inhabitants).

R(t), the transmissibility index, remains at 0,92, both nationally and only on the mainland.

There are 67.958 contacts under surveillance (-1.428).
