Portimão City Council exempts from the noise and operating fee for venues

Until September 30th

The Portimão City Council stopped charging special license fees for noise and operation of venues on Wednesday, the 18th, a temporary measure that will be in force until September 30th.

The exemption deliberated by the municipality “intends to contribute to boosting the local economy, by attracting tourists to the municipality”.

The proposal, presented by Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, «took into account the most serious fall in economic activity in memory, as a result of Covid-19, with the gradual lifting of the restrictions imposed. in the context of combating the current epidemiological situation», according to the autarchy.

"The exemption now approved took into account the fact that the sectors of economic activity that promote, at this stage of the year, noisy activities of a temporary nature are those most affected by the pandemic crisis, especially hotels and restaurants and similar, whose licensing is is subject to the payment of fees provided for in the municipal regulation, as well as the provisions of current legislation on noise», he added.

During the period in which the exemption from payment of special license fees for noise and operation of premises is in effect, «the strict compliance with the standards adopted for prevention and mitigation of Covid-19 will continue to be verified».
