Algarve registers another death and 241 new cases of Covid-19

Nationally, over 2.306 cases of infection were reported.

The Algarve has another 241 new cases of Covid-19 and one death, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Sunday, 1 August, which has just been released.

This number of new infections is lower than that registered yesterday, Saturday, when 313 more cases were registered in the region.

Across the country were reported in today's report, more than 2.306 cases of Covid-19, which also represents a decrease compared to this Saturday's bulletin (2.590 infections).

As for the numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, there were 970.937 cases and 17.369 deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal.

The Northern region was the one that today contributed the most to the increase in infections nationwide, recording 874 more cases. It follows Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 770, the Algarve (241), the Center (227), the Alentejo (129), the Azores (48) and Madeira (17).

Today there were eight more deaths due to Covid-19. In addition to the death in the Algarve, there were 5 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region and 2 in the North.

According to this Sunday's bulletin, the number of inpatients is rising again (+28) and now stands at 923. The number of people in need of intensive care has also increased (+5) to 200.

However, there were 1.500 people who recovered from the illness.

As for active cases, they increased again (+798) to 50.054.

The risk matrix continues with the numbers of Friday: the incidence rate at the national level (including the Azores and Madeira) is in 419,2 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 thousand inhabitants and in 439,3 cases, in mainland Portugal.

The R(t), the transmissibility index, is at 0,98, both nationally and only on the mainland.

There are 75.709 contacts under surveillance (-1.746).
