Algarve registers one more death and 198 cases of Covid-19

Number of admissions increased nationally

The Algarve has over 198 cases of Covid-19 and 1 death, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Sunday, 22 August, which has just been released.

This number of new infections is lower than that registered yesterday, Saturday, when 232 more cases were registered in the region.

Across the country, in today's report, 2112 more cases of Covid-19 were reported, which also represents a decrease compared to the last bulletin (2676 infections).

 

 

With regard to deaths, there were 9 at national level, more than half of these (5) in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 2 in the North, 1 in the Center and 1 in the Algarve.

The number of new retrieved was 1.226, which means that the number of active cases has increased and are now 45.465 (+877).

The number of hospital admissions increased to 708, 27 more than in the last bulletin. Also the number of patients in intensive care units increased (+7) to 152.

 


 

The Northern region was the one that, according to this Sunday's bulletin, contributed the most to the increase in infections nationwide, registering over 802 cases. It follows Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 657, the Center (309), the Algarve (198), the Alentejo (62), Madeira (58) and the Azores (26).

The number of contacts under surveillance had a slight decrease (-283) and are now 50.355.

The risk matrix did not change, continuing with Friday's numbers. The incidence rate at the national level is 312,3 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 inhabitants and 316,6 cases, excluding the islands.

The R(t), the transmissibility index, is at 0,98 both nationally and only on the mainland.
