Sporting, the national football champion, arrived this Sunday, 11 July, in Lagos, where they will train to prepare for the new season.

The lions are once again staying at the Cascade Wellness Resort, where they had already been last year.

Coach Rúben Amorim has 29 players at his disposal, with highlights for Bruno Paz, Tiago Ferreira and Geni Catamo.

Internationals Nuno Mendes, João Palhinha and Pedro Gonçalves (Portugal), Sebastián Coates (Uruguay) and Gonzalo Plata (Ecuador) will only join the work later.

Sporting was going to participate in the Torneio do Algarve, a pre-season tournament that would also bring together Benfica, Boavista and Gent, but which was canceled after the Belgian team withdrew.

Even so, according to information published by Boavista on its official website, the match between Sporting and Chess will still take place this Thursday, 15 July, at the Estádio Algarve.
