Who wants to sell in the Almancil Producers Market?

This initiative, which starts on 12 August, in the town of Almancil, next to ASCA – Social and Cultural Association of Almancil, aims to be a differentiated space for the sale of fruit, vegetables and agri-food products

Applications for those who want to sell in the Almancil Producers' Market run until 22 July.

This initiative, which starts on 12 August, in the town of Almancil, next to ASCA – Social and Cultural Association of Almancil, aims to be a differentiated space for the sale of fruit, vegetables and agri-food products, and will be held weekly, all of them on Thursdays, from 7:30 am to 13:00 pm.

"Since this market is exclusively intended for those who sell their own production, farmers and processors will have to apply for participation in order to verify the condition of producer and proceed to the selection of participants, whose number is limited to the area that the space holds given the current pandemic context», says Câmara de Loulé.

In the criteria for the selection of producers, proximity is valued, considering the residence and/or place of production: producers from Almancil will have priority, followed by producers from the municipality of Loulé and, if space is available, producers from bordering councils.

“Greater social interaction between rural and urban communities favors a greater connection between populations and their origins, performing beneficial functions for everyone, producers, consumers, various economic agents and also for food quality through the consumption of fresh products. But this market gains even greater expression at a time of socioeconomic fragility caused by the epidemiological situation, which we believe will be very important for these small producers, who are also affected by this situation», stresses the mayor of Loulé.

The Almancil Producers Market is an initiative of the Municipality of Loulé, in partnership with the Almancil Parish Council and the municipal companies Infraquinta and Infralobo.
