Portimonian surfer Yolanda Sequeira goes to the Tokyo Olympic Games

Surfer will compete in Japan between July 23rd and August 8th

The surfer from Porto, Yolanda Hopkins Sequeira, qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, taking place in that Asian city, on July 23rd and August 8th.

To mark the feat, the Portimão Chamber paid tribute to the athlete, before she left for Japan, offering her a trophy in the shape of a sardine (symbol of the city), in a ceremony held this Tuesday, July 13, in the main hall. of the Town Hall.

The Clube Naval de Portimão also received a sardine, as public recognition for its contribution to the development of the sport and, in particular, for the support provided to its athlete.

On behalf of the Chamber, the Sports Councilwoman Teresa Mendes was present at the ceremony, while the Clube Naval de Portimão was represented by President João Rosa and Vice Presidents Miguel Martinho, Rui Filipe and David Leonardo.

Yolanda Hopkins Sequeira was also recently runner-up at the World Surfing Games, held in El Salvador, with the Clube Naval de Portimão taking advantage of this public ceremony to deliver Yolanda a salute in honor of her Olympic qualification.
