Loulé Council will launch the public tender for the 2nd phase of Circular Norte, a project that will connect the roundabout on the White Barriers on the EN 270 to the Querença/Ameixial roundabout on the EN 396, next to the Municipal Pavilion.

This is "a significant step in one of the greatest aspirations of this territory", which will allow "the removal of traffic from the city center, in particular heavy vehicles", according to the municipality.

"It will be, as such, a decisive work to improve the safety conditions of road and pedestrian circulation and create privileged access to Via do Infante from the eastern part of Loulé," he added.

The section to be built is about 1,7 kilometers long and will cost more than 4,2 million euros to the Loulé City Council.

The completion of the Northern Circular of Loulé results from an agreement between the Municipality of Loulé and the Infrastructures of Portugal, completed in 2017, and later approved by a majority in a meeting of the Municipal Assembly.

“We can finally announce the start of the public tender for a work that has been long awaited by Loulé people. It is an investment that we are all looking forward to and that will substantially improve mobility and accessibility to the city and, in this way, contribute to the affirmation of Loulé as a fundamental urban hub of the polynucleated urban area of the Central Algarve» , says Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé.
