"Summer Vacation 2021" in Portimão has already started and there are still vacancies

Free time occupation initiative for children and young people lasts until 20th August

The “Summer Holidays 2021” initiative, promoted by the City Council of Portimão, began yesterday, the 12th, and will promote the occupation of free time by around 2500 children and young people until the 20th of August.

In all, there will be six shifts, one per week, always from Monday to Friday. There are still vacancies for all shifts, namely for the Praia da Rocha Sports Area, Clube Naval, Alvor Sports Complex, Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex, Boavista Pavilion and Tennis Complex/Municipal Swimming Pool.

«The interested guardians may proceed with the registration of their children and young people, directly contacting the equipment that still has places available», according to the Portimão City Council.

The project is aimed at residents of the municipality aged between 6 and 12 years old, who will be able to occupy a few hours of their day "in a fun and playful way".

"Over the next six weeks, the initiative presents a diversified program of sporting, cultural, recreational and educational activities, with the participation of approximately 2500 children and young people, who will be offered a kit consisting of a t-shirt, lunch box and cap" , according to the City Council of Portimão.

 

 

The "2021 Summer Vacation" runs from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 13:30 pm, "and, in addition to the opportunity they provide for the little ones to play, experience different experiences and acquire healthy lifestyle habits, they also represent an effective response guardians who are working.

The initiative takes place in the three parishes of the municipality, «with different activities in the following areas: Museu de Portimão; Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library; Pedagogical Farm in Portimão; TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão; Praia da Rocha Sports Area; Naval Club of Portimão; Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex and Municipal Swimming Pool of Portimão; Boavista Sports Pavilion; Alvor Sports Complex; and Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex».

The program has a total of 43 monitors and seven coordinators, “who will undergo weekly tests to Covid-19, under the contingency plan approved by the local health authority and the Municipal Civil Protection. This plan also determines the temperature measurement of all children, who must disinfect their hands with alcohol gel at the entrance of each equipment, and masks are distributed to those who do not bring them from home».

The Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Portimão, the Tennis and Padel Club of Portimão, Portinado, Clube Naval de Portimão, Portimão Surf Clube and TIPO – Children's Theater of Portimão are collaborating in this municipal project. Zoomarine.
