Faro: Seven people rescued from a boat that overturned in Barrinha

There were no injuries to record

Seven people were rescued, this Saturday afternoon, by the Maritime Police and the Quarteira Lifeguard Station, after the boat they were sailing overturned, due to the maritime turmoil, in the Barrinha-Barra de São Luís area, in Faro.

According to the Maritime Authority, among the seven people rescued, all male, there was also a child.

The alert was received at 16:47 pm, «by a local, reporting that an overturned vessel was found», and «a watercraft of the Náufragos Aid Institute, a vessel of the local Command, was immediately activated to the scene. of the Maritime Police of Faro and a boat from the Quarteira Lifeguard Station».

The seven people were rescued from the water, unharmed, by watercraft, with the help of "some people who were close to the site".

Even so, “one of the victims who was sailing on the overturned vessel ended up being transported to the navy area of Faro, where she was observed by an INEM ambulance, as she had ingested water and was frightened”, adds the Maritime Authority.

The vessel where they were following, which is about 7,20 m long, was then towed to the Fishing Port of Quarteira, as it constituted a danger to navigation.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Faro took care of the occurrence.
