In a press release, the municipality recalls that "it has been warning, since the beginning of the year" of this situation, writing to Paulo Morgado, president of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, as well as to the two secretaries of State for Health - in addition to the Feared Marta.
"With the retirement of the Director of the Health Center and the departure of the doctor who worked in Odeceixe, the staff of doctors in Aljezur was reduced to one doctor, a situation that cannot happen and that severely harms the population of Aljezur", he reads. if.
«We are aware of the effort that the Ministry is making with the Pandemic situation, which we have been experiencing for over a year, but we remember that the municipality has always been available to find solutions: see support for renting a house for doctors, equipment for physiotherapy, Mobile Health Unit, Medical Dentist Office and, more recently, in the agreement for a medical course in the Algarve, among others», says the City Council of Aljezur.
In this note, the municipality regrets that 28 vacancies have been opened for placement in health centers in the Algarve, but «Aljezur was not included».
This situation is "incomprehensible and unacceptable", he considers.
For this reason, José Gonçalves' executive demands that «solutions are found immediately in order to remedy this penalizing situation for our county, for our populations, who so much need a family doctor, and that puts our image in question as a tourist destination. ».
