The Algarve has 14 municipalities at high or very high risk, those that are subject to tighter rules, but there is news from the last week: Alcoutim enters, Monchique leaves and all the others are together in the highest risk lot, as it ends to announce Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva.
Also new is the Aljezur's entry to the list of municipalities on alert, that is, they risk being subject to restrictions if the situation does not improve.
According to daily data on the incidence of Covid-19 collected by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, Aljezur had, on the 20th, an incidence of 268 cases/100 inhabitants, above the limit of 240 defined for low-density municipalities. But as it's only the first week that this happens, it was just under alert.
Precisely based on these data from ARS Algarve, the mayor of Monchique had protested, last week, against the inclusion of your county among those subject to restrictions, noting that this municipality has never been above 240 cases per 100 inhabitants, the barrier from which it would be considered to be of high risk. And, even if that had happened, it would be the first week, so, at the most, it should have been placed on the list of councils under alert.
The mayor had even considered this inclusion of his low-density council as “a blatant mistake”, demanding its removal…but this only came to happen now, when Monchique it has an incidence rate of 181/100 thousand inhabitants.
The (many) entries and exits of councils from the high and very high risk list were the only novelty resulting from today's Council of Ministers, in terms of distrust, since, as the Minister of State and Presidency pointed out, this week there were no changes to the rules.
"The government's decisions on future rules will be taken after Tuesday's meeting with Infarmed and it makes no sense to anticipate," said Mariana Vieira da Silva.
“Since the vaccination certificate was available, we have used it in various activities. Let's wait for the evolution. The government has always said that when a good percentage of the population is vaccinated with two doses, there will be a change in policy. We are approaching that moment», he added.
Thus, the obligation to present a vaccination certificate or a negative test to Covid-19 to eat inside a restaurant at the weekend remains in force, as well as the mandatory curfew at 23:00. This rule is valid for the 14 risk councils.
In high-risk municipalities, telecommuting is mandatory whenever activities permit and restaurants, cafes and patisseries can work until 22:30 (inside, with a maximum of 6 people, and on the terrace, 10).
Cultural shows run until 22:30 and all stores can be open until 21:00. As for weddings and baptisms, they are allowed to have 50% of the capacity.
In municipalities with very high risk, in addition to teleworking being mandatory, restaurants, cafes and patisseries can only have six people on the terrace and four inside.
Supermarkets and retail stores are open until 21 pm during the week and until 00 pm on weekends and holidays.
As for the stores in the non-food sector, they are authorized to open until 21:00 pm, during the week, and until 15:30 pm, on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Based on data on the incidence by municipality as of 21 July, changes were introduced with regard to the municipalities covered by each of the phases of decontamination:
