“Val€ to buy in local commerce” had an impact of more than 1 million euros on Lagoa's economy

Vouchers can still be used until July 25th

The campaign “Val€ buy in local businesses” had a direct impact of nearly 1,3 million on the local economy of Lagoa, revealed the Chamber, which created the initiative to help businesses and families in Lagoa.

The amount of 1.276.220 euros comes from “the amount drawn by the municipality, the vouchers given to the unemployed and the coupons that were drawn, resulting from purchases made at participating establishments”.

The Municipality of Lagoa assessed the impact of this initiative on local businesses and Lagoa families, considering that «the campaign was a success, having achieved its goals, and that this incentive is to continue, during the low season, regardless of whether there is or not pandemic”, says the municipality.

Five draws have already been held, worth €10 thousand each, and €73 thousand in vouchers have been handed out to the unemployed registered with the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), at the end of November.

Over the next few days, 30 euros will be delivered to the unemployed registered with the IEFP at the end of December, January, February, March and April.

Another number of the initiative is the participation of 112 322 coupons, "which correspond to at least 10 euros of purchases each", throughout the five draws.

This is a joint initiative of the Municipality of Lagoa and the commercial association ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve.

The campaign “Val€ buy in local commerce” was “one of the several measures that the Municipality of Lagoa implemented to support the local economy, at a time of accentuated difficulties for companies, due to the Covid-19 pandemic”, adds the municipality.

The objective is to attract customers to traditional commerce throughout the county, promoting the circular economy. For this purpose, draws are held with prizes ranging from 20 to 1500 euros and shopping vouchers are given to the unemployed.

«I want to believe that the worst is over and I am sure that the Municipality of Lagoa played a leading role in protecting the population, in protecting local businesses, in supporting the council's IPSS and in supporting the authorities in the direct fight against Covid-19 , through the implemented measures», said Luís Encarnação, Mayor of Lagoa.

«The Campaign “Val€ buy in the local commerce” was just one of the hugely successful initiatives, which is here to stay, regardless of the pandemic, although in a slightly different mold», adds the mayor.

«It is important to mention that the vouchers, which are in the possession of the winners (through drawings) or those of the unemployed residing in the municipality of Lagoa, can be used until the 25th of July», concludes the municipality.
