The bathing season in Castro Marim started on the 1st, with 11 bathing facilities on sandy beaches distinguished with the Blue Flag, Accessible Beach and Gold Quality award, but also with new accesses, non-smoking areas and more skills for the municipality.
Thus, according to a press release from the Castromarinense Chamber, the walkway with direct access to the beach at Praia da Verdelago, better known as Praia da Vala or Praia do Braço, and which is not yet classified as bathing water, «is still in the process of completion, within the scope of construction of the new seafront walkway at Altura'. Also for this reason, the Municipality of Castro Marim decided to temporarily close the car park that serves it.
The municipality added that "the full enjoyment of the new walkway" should take place by mid-June, although main accesses to all classified beaches are guaranteed.
The Chamber warns, on the other hand, "that the access to police and emergency vehicles, existing to the west, must be free and unobstructed", so it calls "not to park in the place".
As for UB1 Praia da Alagoa (western area, on the edge of the municipality), «it still does not have bathing support, so it is an unsupervised area».
In addition, on all beaches there are «signs proper to remember the safety measures, which include the use of masks in the accesses, circulation in the marked areas and respect for the capacity provided for each beach».
Each bather, recalls Castro Marim, «can and should check the state of occupation of the beaches before going there, through the Info Praia application, from the Portuguese Environment Agency, or through the beachcams.
This year, a challenge was launched to limit non-smoking areas to all dealers, a measure that is part of the municipal policy to promote health and well-being.
Most of the titles awarded recently have already foreseen the provision of support equipment (amphibian chair) to users with reduced mobility, thus having been extended the offer of this service in the municipality of Castro Marim – Graccer/Eurotel Concessions (Praia da Alagoa/Altura – UB3 and UB4), Pezinhos na Areia (Praia Verde – UB 2) and Licia (Praia do Cabeço, UB 2 west).
Finally, the Municipality of Castro Marim announces that, during the bathing season, it will promote various environmental education activities, to be announced in advance.
