Government recognizes two poles of digital innovation with the Algarve's “touch”

There is a third application, which directly involves the CCDR of the Algarve, which can still be approved

The Portugal Blue Digital Hub, which includes the University of Algarve, and InnovTourism, which integrates the Algarve STP, are among the structures that become part of the National Network of Digital Innovation Hubs and which have been recognized by the Government.

These are two of the approved applications of the “Digital Innovation Hubs for Entrepreneurship” measure, launched under the Action Plan for the Digital Transition, which “aimed at boosting a National Network of Digital Innovation Hubs to be developed in conjunction with clusters of competitiveness and recognized technological interface centres”, according to the Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR).

There is a third candidacy, the “Data-Driven Public Policy Innovation Hub”, in which the Algarve CCDR directly participates, which, despite not having been approved yet, “through the merger of areas of expertise and partners” may still be recognized, “given the relevance and importance of digitization in Public Administration”.

José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve, underlines that “another important step has been taken towards the diversification of our economic base, implementing some of the goals set out in the Algarve's Regional Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (RIS3) and promoting the variety related to ICT , and in our case, the Sea and Tourism».

In the government order, signed by the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, it is also agreed that the National Network will be interconnected with the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs, to be promoted by the European Commission within the scope of the European framework programs for 2021-2027.
