Sporting, cultural and educational activities fill the summer holidays of children in Portimão

Registration will open this Monday, June 14th, and are aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old.

Sporting, cultural, recreational, educational, water, river and sea activities will take place from the 12th of July to the 20th of August, to occupy the free time of children and young people between 6 and 12 years old living in Portimão.

It's another edition of 2021 summer vacation, a project by the Municipality of Portimão that takes place during this school break and will have the participation of around 2500 children and young people, spread over six weeks.

Available exclusively online at sport.cm-portimao.pt from this Monday, June 14th, registrations have a weekly cost of 15 euros, and can be made simultaneously for several weeks. Places are limited to 420 participants per week, distributed in 28 groups of 15 children across different nuclei.

As Portimão Summer Vacation 2021 they take place from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 13:30 pm, and "in addition to the opportunity they give the little ones to play, experience different experiences and acquire healthy lifestyle habits", the program also aims to "give an effective response to those responsible for education that are already working”, stresses the municipality.

The initiative takes place in all three parishes of the municipality, with activities being carried out in 11 nuclei, namely: Museu de Portimão; Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library; Pedagogical Farm in Portimão; TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão; Praia da Rocha Sports Area; Naval Club of Portimão; Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex and Municipal Swimming Pool of Portimão; Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo de Portimão; Boavista Sports Pavilion; Alvor Sports Complex; and Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex.

«This municipal project has significant relevance from an educational, social, cultural and sporting point of view, as each action is designed within a healthy occupation of children's free time and aims to provide them with an enriching pedagogical and playful experience, during which the monitors, with adequate training, will guarantee the quality of the service provided”, adds the note released by the Portimão Chamber.

 

Proposals for all tastes

At the core of the Portimão Museum, the Educational Workshop is aimed at children from 6 to 12 years old and proposes to participants the exploration of the different meanings of colors in different cultures, framing them in the theme of interculturality, under the motto of the exhibition “We are all colors”, encouraging participants to learn about concepts such as identity and belonging, pluralism and cultural diversity.

Already in the core of Pedagogical Farm, the program offers an attractive set of initiatives, which will privilege thematic workshops and activities in the middle of nature, always in contact with the animals of that rural space in the middle of the city, where it will also be possible to practice various traditional trades, simultaneously with nutritional education and environmental, also aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years.

At the core of the TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão, the activities will focus on the theme "Dramatic expression in children's education" and aim to provide children, aged 6 to 12, the opportunity to get in touch with dramatic art, through fun and creative formulas, taking advantage of the natural faculties of each a.

In turn, the core of Manuel Teixeira Gomes Library proposes six stories, one per week, from which different workshops/activities are developed for reading, theater, dance, painting, puppetry, recycling, molding, folding and games, among other proposals, also for children aged 6 to 12 years.

With regard to Active Vacations, the project takes place in seven distinct nuclei, namely the Praia da Rocha Sports Area: Naval Club of Portimão, both with activities aimed at children aged between 9 and 12 years old, as well as the Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex e Local pool: Portimão Gimnodesportivo Pavilion: Boavista Sports Pavilion: Alvor Sports Complex and the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex, all with activities aimed at children from 6 to 12 years old.

 

 

Health and safety standards will be strictly adhered to

Due to the favorable evolution of the pandemic situation resulting from Covid-19, the Active Holidays present a more diversified sports offer in this year's edition.

Therefore, children can try sports such as tennis, swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, sailing, canoeing, dancing, gymnastics, hip-hop, futsal, basketball, handball, American football, water games, as well as games for the development of physical abilities. and motor, among other challenges.

All activities involved in the 2021 Summer Vacation project follow the recommendations issued by the General Directorate of Health and the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, with a view to guaranteeing the hygiene and safety conditions of the children who will attend the activities.

The Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Portimão, the Tennis and Padel Club of Portimão, Portinado, Clube Naval de Portimão, Portimão Surf Clube and TIPO – Children's Theater of Portimão are collaborating in this municipal project.
