72 students from hotel schools of the Turismo de Portugal network participated

Tawany Andrade, a student at the School of Hotel and Tourism (EHT) of Portimão, won the Joaquim Janeiro Cup – restaurant service competition – in the Interescolas 2021 Competition, which was disputed at the Vila Real de Santo António EHT.

Tawany and the other winning students will now represent Portugal in the European final of the competition, which will take place next November, in Tallinn, Estonia.

The XVI InterSchools Meeting of the Portuguese Tourism School network was hosted by the Hotel and Tourism School of Vila Real de Santo António,

Over two days (31st May and 1st June), 72 students, accompanied by about 30 Trainers and Jury members, put themselves to the test in 12 competitions, in the most diverse areas of training provided in the Hotel and Hospitality Schools and Country tourism.

One of the highlights of the event was the closing Gala, which was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, mayors of the councils close to the school (VRSA, Castro Marim and Tavira), local IEFP, Associação Odiana , Parish Council of VRSA.

The Chameleon was the symbol of the event, in homage to this reptile threatened by tourist activity and so characteristic of the Eastern Algarve. It is therefore a warning and a contribution to its preservation. In such a way that it will be adopted as a permanent symbol of the Clube de Ciência Viva MED_LAB, recently created at the School of Hotel and Tourism of Vila Real de Santo António.
