Albufeira and Loulé will remain in the previous phase of deconfinement, while Lagos, which last week received a warning, will regress. But there are four other municipalities (São Brás de Alportel, Olhão, Faro and Portimão) that tomorrow should enter the list of municipalities under notice.

These are the conclusions that can be drawn from the analysis of data from the bulletin on the incidence rate of Covid-19 in the Algarve, sent by the Regional Health Authority to the 16 municipalities in the region.

According to the numbers of June 21st, the most recent ones, Albufeira, instead of decreasing, has been increasing its incidence rate, with 421 cases in the last 14 days per 100.000 inhabitants.

Loulé, which last week also regressed in disconfinement, presents 211 cases/100 thousand inhabitants. As for Lagos, which had been under warning, its rate also rose to 230 cases/100 inhabitants.

Taking these numbers into account, it is expected that tomorrow, after another Council of Ministers in which the national epidemiological situation will be assessed, Lagos will join the growing list of municipalities forced to go back, implementing again more restrictive measures.

São Brás de Alportel is also in a worrying situation, with an incidence rate of 182 cases/100 inhabitants, Olhão, with 162, Faro, with 161, and Portimão, with 121, that is, all above the limit of 120 cases/100 thousand inhabitants.

According to the daily bulletin of the Regional Health Authority, on the 21st, the Algarve, as a region, is also above the threshold, with an overall incidence rate of 166.

Despite everything, nine municipalities are still below the figure of 120 cases/100 inhabitants, one of them barely (Lagoa, with a rate of 119).

Thus, Silves has 99, Aljezur 89, Tavira 41, Vila do Bispo 39 and Vila Real de Santo António 11.

There are also three municipalities with a zero incidence rate: Monchique, Alcoutim and Castro Marim.

In the case of low-density municipalities, where one or two cases may soon tip the balance, the limit for regressing in deconfinement is situated at an incidence rate of 240 cases per 100 inhabitants.

The increase in the incidence rate in seven of the 16 municipalities in the Algarve, as well as the increase in the number of cases in the region, are not, however, translating into great pressure on hospitals. According to yesterday's data, that can be seen on our interactive map, there were 25 people admitted by Covid-19 in hospitals in the Algarve, two of them in Intensive Care, but none of them ventilated.

This morning, according to Antena1, the regional Health delegate of the Algarve, concerned with the evolution of the pandemic, is meeting with the presidents of the Algarve Municipal Councils. The analysis of the numbers and the forecast of the decisions that should come out of the Council of Ministers tomorrow are on the table.

that it is known, the appeals of mayors, entrepreneurs and even from the Regional Health Authority itself to change the way of evaluating Covid-19 cases in the Algarve, due to the many tourists present in the region, they had no results.
