Outbreaks in kindergartens, schools and families raise cases in Lagoa, Silves and Loulé

Sul Informação asked the Regional Health Authority for clarification

The increase of 22 cases of Covid-19 in the last five days, in the municipality of Lagoa, is related "to an outbreak in a nursery, whose children and parents are already in prophylactic isolation since the appearance of the first case", revealed the Health Authority Regional to Sul Informação.

In response to a question from our newspaper, the authority adds that the cases of Lagos "that have emerged in recent days are essentially brothers and fathers, also already in prophylactic isolation."

Since last Saturday, in addition to the situation already reported in Albufeira, and which had mainly to do with an outbreak in an agricultural company, there has also been an increase in infections in the municipalities of Loulé and Silves, and both situations are even related.

The Regional Health Authority explains that, in the municipality of Loulé, «these are essentially family cases (whole families), with an impact on the school environment, including the Alte Activity Center and the Loulé Secondary School».

On the other hand, «in Silves, there are situations related to the Alte / Loulé Activity Center and the outbreak of the agricultural company in Albufeira». There are also "family cases".

Despite these rises, none of those municipalities should run the risk of backtracking in the process of deconfinement, despite Lagoa having already reached the figure of 119 confirmed cases in the last 14 days per 100.000 inhabitants. This Thursday, Prime Minister António Costa, after the Council of Ministers, should announce the reassessment of the municipalities, and it is expected that Albufeira (with 147 new cases/100 inhabitants) and Lagoa may receive a warning.
