“O Palco é Teu” will start this Wednesday, May 12, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, to support local artists, whose activity has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this first musical performance of the project, the collectives Macadâmia and Essência da Marimba will present their music on May 12th, at 19 pm.

This will be the beginning of the “open call“, launched in the first half of January, and which had 45 applications, including individual artists and bands, of which 33 groups and six solo performers were admitted.

“O Palco É Teu” will be divided into two phases, the first continuing with the following schedule: Jair Baptista and Conexão Algarve (19th May), Ricardo Alberthy and The Nightriders (2nd June), Magic Acoustic Covers and Beto Kalulu ( June 16th), Miguel Silva and Woodstick (June 30th).

The first phase of the initiative will also include JazZeca and The Sound of Bass (7th July), Fado Guitars and António Correia (14th July), Sticky Fingers Duo and SAIA (21st July), Pedro Nazário + Cálice (28th July) ), Dua Angola Brasil and Xico Barata & João Miranda (August 11) and Intocáveis and Kappalifha (August 18).

The initiative's initial proposal called for successful candidates to record their presentations during the month of February, on a stage created for that purpose, but the entry into force of the new State of Emergency led to the suspension of the calendar.

The initiative had as its main mission "the financial support to local artists whose activity has been interrupted for over a year and, since the difficulties that the music sector is going through are emerging", the Municipality of Portimão chose to perform live shows, with entrance fee free and subject to room capacity, which will be reduced in accordance with the norms of the General Directorate of Health.

In the second phase of the project, which will take place between mid-September and the end of November, the following performances will be hosted at the TEMPO auditorium: Al-gharband and Dj Nelson Vaz (16 September), Bandamecos and Modinhas Humanas (23 September) , Duo Caltrava and Simple Song Band (7th October), Adriana Marques and Brasa Doirada (14th October).

The second phase will also feature Your Glam Band and Carlos Peregrino (October 28th), Black Puzzle and DJ Naresk (November 4th), Edmundo Vieira (November 11th), Volume 2 and Ritmo Jovem (18th of November) and Gilettes d' Steel and HajaSaude (25 November).

This initiative by the municipality is the municipality's third direct support project for local artists since the beginning of the pandemic, with financial assistance of 500 euros for each individual artist and XNUMX euros for each band.
