Forum discusses tourism potential of the Forum of the Eurocity of Guadiana

The different working panels and round tables will analyze the role of European funds in the development of cross-border tourism

The Tourism Forum of the Eurocity of Guadiana takes place this Wednesday, May 26, with the aim of discussing the tourism potential of the border. 

The initiative, which will take place in person in Vila Real de Santo António, but can be followed live through the project's Facebook and YouTube channel. EuroGuadiana, will also be attended by representatives of local authorities, the Patronato de Turismo de Huelva, the Algarve Tourism Region and the Iberian Network of Transfrontier Entities.

The contributions of the participants in the forum will be added to those that will be obtained soon in meetings with tourist agents in the territory and which will be part of the study material that the universities of Huelva and Algarve will use to define the Eurocity's Strategic Tourism Plan.

During the forum, some of the actions in which the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Eurocity of Guadiana is working in the field of tourism will also be presented, including the realization of a joint cultural offer called “Museum Territory” and the creation of the first cross-border tourist destination in the lane.

The different working panels and round tables will analyze the role of European funds in the development of cross-border tourism, with special emphasis on the actions carried out in the Eurocity of Guadiana. Other fluvial tourism experiences will also be known, with the participation of those responsible for the main tourist projects developed around the Douro and Minho rivers.

The forum will close with a round table, moderated by professor Adão Flores of the University of Algarve, with the participation of Vitor Neto, president of the Business Association of the Algarve Region, of Fátima Catarina, vice president of the Algarve Tourism Region, of Daniel Navarro, coordinator of the Patronato de Turismo de Huelva, Rafael Barba, secretary general of the Business Circle for Tourism of Huelva, and Pablo Rivera, secretary general of the Iberian Network of Transboundary Entities.

These tourist actions are part of the joint tourism promotion plan for the cities of Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, which is part of the EuroGuadiana 2020 project, co-financed by the European Union through the Spain Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Program – Interreg VA.
