CHUA is part of the Algarve Museum Network and will create Health Memory Space

This space will be "comprised of equipment or utensils already obsolete for operational purposes, but loaded with usage histories"

The University Hospital Center of the Algarve is already part of the Algarve Museum Network (RMA) and will create a Health Memory Space, announced the CHUA this Monday, May 17th.

This space will be "consisting of equipment or utensils that are already obsolete for operational purposes, but loaded with usage histories, which continue to be stored in the services as a way of preserving memories and worth recording, safeguarding and disseminating", as referred to in the Proposal for Action plan.

The competence to safeguard and enhance CHUA's Cultural Heritage is the responsibility of the Department of Education, Innovation and Research (DEII), which will be responsible for the inventory of the material currently existing and dispersed throughout the different spaces of CHUA. The project's schedule also includes the verification of stocks, creation of deposits, as well as carrying out the inventory of the entire estate and the creation of a network of collections that can be visited in the various spaces, maintaining the connection between the estates and users.

CHUA has a diverse architectural and documentary/artistic heritage, such as the Clinical Archive considered unique (Ex-Sanatorium Archive), Documentary and Photographic Collection of the various spaces and Artistic Heritage, such as the paintings in the chapel of the Hospital Unit of Faro.

After the inventory and cataloging of the pieces, a space for the dissemination of the work will be created, through the presentation of the piece, document or character of the month, on CHUA's institutional channels.

In addition to being part of the Algarve Museum Network, an informal network that brings together different professionals, with different backgrounds and knowledge, CHUA has already established partnerships with the Algarve's municipalities, ETIC Algarve, the University of Algarve and the Health Museum, with the in order to enhance this project.
