Threats to coastal ecosystems bring together schools in Olhão, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Spain and Latvia

Pandemic changed the rounds of students from all schools involved in the project

Lectures, presentations of student work, virtual tours around Olhão and the Algarve coast, get-togethers, quizzes, as well as watching films, group work that enhance collaborative work, filling out surveys. These are the activities that are taking place at the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes School Group, in Olhão, from the 12th to the 18th of May, within the scope of the Erasmus+ Project “Human Impacts @ Coastal Ecosystems".

The theme chosen by the Algarve Schools Group was the sea horse (C7 – Seahorse: the mystery hidden in Ria Formosa).

This project started in 2018 and involves cooperation with schools from Bulgaria (Dobrich), Italy (Mascalucia), Greece (Kefalonia), Spain (Vila de Vícar) and Latvia (Ogre), around the potential and threats of coastal ecosystems locations.

In May 2020, the last mobility of students should have taken place in the Oyenne Group. Due to the pandemic situation at Covid-19, however, «we were forced to postpone the aforementioned meeting, in the hope that, a year later, it would be possible to bring together students and teachers again», explains Professor Óscar Ribeiro, from the Department of Social Sciences and Humans of the AEFFL.

But “a year passed and it continued to be impossible to carry out physical mobility”.

Therefore, «the last mobility, albeit in virtual mode, was organized and is under development between the 12th and 18th of May», using «ICT».

Synchronous activities are being broadcast on live streaming through the AEFFL Youtube channel, so the Group invites the entire community to attend.
