Aljezur once again reinforces support for the devices of the Surveillance and Relief Posts on the beaches

The support will be for the bathing season, between June 1st and September 30th

The City Council of Aljezur will once again support 75% of the net salary of each lifeguard, up to a maximum limit of 900 euros, for the 2021 bathing season.

Beach concessionaires can apply for up to three of their lifeguards, as long as the professionals are part of the beach's surveillance and rescue system.

The local authority justifies this measure with "the responsibility to ensure, at the level of each beach, the surveillance and assistance device for the year 2021".

The support will be granted during the bathing season, which will run from June 1st to September 30th.

The Aljezur City Council also approved “the possibility of loaning equipment for the implementation of surveillance and help posts or to complement the absence of existing ones”.

This year, similarly to what happened in 2020, there is also “the need to accommodate these professionals, mostly from other parts of the country or even from other countries, which inevitably forces the provision of accommodation”.

Last year, the municipality had already guaranteed «support for the hiring of lifeguards, the hiring made by the municipality for bathing beaches without concession, but also the additional effort of employees, who constantly and tirelessly ensured cleanliness and disinfection of sanitary facilities and cleaning of public spaces next to them».

This is a measure "to support the local economy", namely to concessionaires, which contributes "to security and confidence in the summer and on safe beaches".
